Thank you for this. The article has particular resonance for me as I am a descendant of Bartinoro. His hebrew name was often called "Yare" and my uncle was the last descendant called Yare (he had three daughters, so the name didn't continue). The family moved from Italy to Palestine in 1936 and has never left. They established an Italian Jewish community in Ramat Gan, and my GrandParents built an Italian synagogue there, with sifrei torah from Italy, and follow the Italian liturgy. The tradition continues.... An interesting snippet of information is that my Granfather (Yosef Yare Sinigaglia) has a forest near the town of Hanita in northern Israel dedicated to him ("A land redeemer"), as he acted as a major purchaser of land from the Arabs at a time when Jews were not permitted by the British to buy lands. Because nobody suspected he was anything other than an Italian investor, he bought copious lands in the north on behalf of the Jewish Agency - which subsequently became an integral part of the land of Israel.
